Home Run!

Casey and Mick

Casey: “You could have hit the big one. Down there, I mean.”

Mick: “Down where, Casey? What are you talking about?”

Casey: “You could have hit the big one, Mick. You could have. It could have been you.”

Mick: “I hit the big one, Casey. I always hit the big ones. 536 of them. You know. You saw it. You were there!”

Casey: “Not the big one, Mick. Not the big one. You could have hit the big one. The big one. You could have. You could have.”

Mick: “I tried, Casey. I’m sorry I let you down, but I tried.”

Casey: “The big one isn’t worth trying for, Mick. It’s worth hitting. Out of the park. It’s the big one. You could have hit it. What happened?”

Mick: “The knees? I don’t know, Casey. I don’t know. I think it was the knees, but I don’t know.”

Casey: “The big one needs more than knees, Mick. You need more than knees to hit the big one. You had it all… Forget the knees… You had it all. You could have hit the big one.”

Mick: “I hit it, Casey. I hit it. I hit it everyday, playing for you.”

Casey: “You didn’t, Mick. You didn’t. You never hit the big one. You could have, but you didn’t. You didn’t.”

Mick: “Can I get another shot, Casey?”

Casey: “There’s only one, Mick. Only one.”

Mick: “Shucks, Casey, put me in again. Give me another shot. Just one. I’ll hit it. I’ll show you. Just one.”

Casey: “Ain’t my call, Mick. Ain’t my call. Ain’t my call.”

Mick: “Sorry, Casey. I did my best. I did my best.”

Casey: “Don’t tell me, Mick. Tell it to yourself. Look in the mirror, and tell it to yourself.”

Mick: “Okay, Casey, I will…

Mick (to self in mirror): “I’m sorry, Mick. You could have hit the big one.

Mick (in mirror to self): “You did, Mick. You did.

Mick: “Thank you, Casey. Thank you.”

Casey: “You’re welcome, Mick. Now, put on the pinstripes. We’ve got a game to play. Son.”

Mick: “Will do, Casey. Will do.”

Casey: “Don’t worry about hitting the big one, Mick. That’s the secret to hitting the big one.”

Mick: “Thought I already did.”

Casey: “See what I’m saying? Now, go deep. Going to toss you some flies. Keep those knees under you, you hear?”

Mick: “Yes, Casey. I hear. Toss me some flies. I’ll be ready. It wasn’t the knees. It wasn’t the knees.”

Casey: “It never is. It never is.”

Mick: “Okay, ready. Go ahead.”

Casey: “Nice catch.”

Mick: “Thanks.”
