Rembrandt’s portrayal of Christ is known for its depiction of Jesus in His full Judaic identity, which, of course, is true.
It is said that Rembrandt based this painting off of a “model,” a Jewish man he found walking the streets of Amsterdam, not to dissimilar from this.
